March Madness

We’re simply mad about March

Le Blog 2023 No.9

“We’re all mad here” . . .

Why do we say, “March Madness” or “Mad as a March hare”?

Now of course the obvious answer is, if you are a basketball fan, it’s the March playoffs.

March Madness

March Madness refers to that time of year (usually mid-March through the beginning of April) when the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men's and women's college basketball tournaments are held.

If you’re a fan, here’s a schedule of the women’s and the men’s games. Enjoy the games!

What about Mad as a March hare?

Perhaps he’s mad because I put a hat on him.

This phrase first appeared in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and is now used to describe anyone

behaving in an odd or foolish way.

And, what about the crazy March weather! Talk about erratic.

March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb." - English Proverb.

Let’s March forth (4th)!

Wouldn’t March be a great month for a Mad Hatter Tea Party? I’ve pulled a few things from our site that might make your party mad fun.

A Mad Hatter Tea Party?!?

Cookie cutters.

These can be used to cut shapes for tea sandwiches, scones and of course cookies.

They come attached to a recipe card. These are great party favors. Your guests will be mad for them!

If you have a variety of teacups and saucers, you can stack them for decoration.

Add flowers to the top cup for a fun look. No one will think you’ve gone mad.

We have some pretty teacups and saucers in stock if you find your cabinet is feeling empty inside.

Don’t go mad trying to figure it all out!

If you’re looking for recipes and party ideas we suggest a visit to the Hoffman Media store. There are tons of recipe books and you can subscribe to my favorite magazine, “Tea Time” This pretty publication is full of party suggestions, tea pairings, recipes and Tea Room features. You’ll be mad for it.

Flavigny Candies

Carefully crafted from vegan ingredients: organic, unrefined sugar & handmade natural essences.

Still made within the walls of the ancient abbey, each delicate candy conceals an aniseed in its heart. The anise seeds are carefully sourced to produce a warm, spicy flavor and a remarkably aromatic scent. Each carefully crafted candy is created over the course of 15 days- the seeds are tumbled over one another and gradually become covered in fine successive layers of eco-certified, organic, unrefined sugar. This of patient, delicate work transforms each seed into the smooth white candy we all love.
